The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have and that is our attitude…. I am convinced that life is 10% of what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you…we are in charge of our attitudes.”

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. raisins (white ones are nice)
Slight cup of buttermilk

Heat oven to 400. Sift first 5 ingredients. Cut in butter with pastry blender till resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in raisins. Make a well in center of flour mixture and add liquid all at once - stir vigorously with fork till dry ingredients are moistened (like you were making bisquits). Turn out onto lightly floured board; knead gently 8-10 times and shape into round ball. Place in greased 8″ pie pan. Cut across top from side to side slightly. Bake at 400 for 15 min.; lower to 375 and bake additional 30 min. or till tests done in center. Remove from pan and cool 1 hr. on wire rack (if it’s possible to stay out of it that long!) - but know that it crumbles when cut right away. Cut into pie-shaped wedges and serve warm with butter. Enjoy!
